Playwright Night Out

The Seed Fund

PwritesCom takes pride in providing small grants to playwrights and their projects, most often through crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter, USA Projects, IndieGoGo, and Play Starter.

Interested in a Seed grant? Send an alert about your crowdfunded project to pwrites.commons@gmail.com with “Seed Fund” in the subject line. Grants are not guaranteed, and depend largely on the liquidity of this variable Fund and the perceived value of your project to expanding the reach of innovative theatre and playwriting.

Boston & New England Playwrights Group

Who is the Boston or New England area playwright? What are her concerns? What is he writing about?

Visibility is key if we’re going to celebrate and develop our local theatre-makers both inside and outside our own borders.

To this end, PwritesCom administrates the Boston & New England Playwrights community on Facebook. Listen in, or join the conversation by clicking HERE.

Freedom Art Theatre Retreat

The centerpiece of Playwrights’ Commons’ mission is the facilitation of new works and innovative creation processes. The Freedom Art Theatre Retreat, held annually in the late summer, is the heart of our programming.

Emerging Boston-area playwrights, designers, and dramaturgs are matched into creative teams and hosted at a woodsy New England Retreat for a week. While there, the teams are tasked with writing/designing/devising theatrical projects that would not have been possible as individual artists.

An Exciting New Collaboration!

Coming in early 2013: a partnership between Playwrights’ Commons and one of New England’s premiere play development organizations.

Details on a winter retreat coming soon!
